RUBEN RILEY - Juxtaposition Ep - UNDER HEAT Records - 2022 X Ruben Riley ? Of course you know this guy! He was that outrageously young drummer who played alongside Billy Twyford in Disco Junk x a few years ago. After their happy meeting on that hardcore band, they both set up their own solo project: his was soberly called Ruben Riley   x , while his sidekick-singer one was named Billiam x (by the way, check again the band Remote Control x , a band that Billy/iam has recently set up with Ishka Edmeades of Gee Tee x ). The Ep Juxtaposition is aptly named. Because Ruben Riley exactly knows how to play everything and intends to prove it with these four disparate songs. Not The Sharpest Tool is a lo-fi, juvenile and nervous garage-punk tune in the straight line of the recordings of his Nystagmus demo released in 2020. It is followed by two unexpected songs, Amygdala , an instrumental math-rock/post-rock cut, and Head Cleaner , a psychedelic bedroom-pop one with strong Kinks ...

Gigs' Reviews : Lyon Calling (Final Part) - Destination Lonely + Pervitin - 27th Of May 2022 - Le Trokson, Lyon

Born Toulouse. My stay in Toulouse had only lasted for fifteen months at the most, intermittently between 1998 and 2001, but this short-lived period announced a major change in my musical tastes. I tried someday to catch again those two bands, Mass Murderers and the Casualties , that had beautifully marked the end of my teenager's years. They were both playing downtown. The local punkers, gathered around that night, dissuaded me forever from going to such a gig again. They were just like the city in those late 90's: dirty and gloomy, and infested with ugly gangs of aggressive junkies and crusty punx barking much louder than their packs of hounds.  The Toulousan Oi scene wasn't much better, since it had largely been swallowed up by some young neo-Stalinist guards who were still dreaming of being skinheads' hunters and were trying hard to ape their famous Parisian predecessors with a ten-years time lag. The Klasse Kriminale and P38 gig had thus turned into a messy pitc...
