Gigs' Reviews : Lyon Calling (Part VI) - Dangerhouse Shop / Dangerhouse Skylab / Bruno Biedermann

The ageless song Leave Me Be was back in the air at home. Some of the old garage buddies of my girlfriend Anne had undoubtedly spurred on her again. So, she had started again listening to this Zombies ' hit every day. At one moment, she pointed out to me that we even hadn't this song on vinyl, and that I should take advantage of my next trip to Lyon to find one for her. L'intemporel Leave Me Be résonnait de nouveau à la maison. Bruno Biedermann. A few weeks later, more precisely the day after my arrival in Lyon, I was logically heading towards the Dangerhouse Shop with a firm step. With its stock of 15,000 records accumulated since 1...

Gigs' Reviews : Lyon Calling (Part V) - SALO + Talleen - 26th Of May 2022 - Le Trokson, Lyon

I left the guys when they were ordering the fifth round of pints. Of course, this discussion about the Lyon underground x , with Clovis Touccan and Mathieu from Chaleur Tournante , was thrilling. The reception of the Basemen t's owner was adorable and the jokes of the friends were sharp as usual... But that evening, there were also some priorities. And there was no way to miss the concert of SALO and Talleen at the Trokson . We will quickly pass on the long way back to the city center and the relief to finally reach the toilets of the bar on the slopes of Croix-Rousse... The Trokson had opened its doors in 2015 and had become the emblematic and unavoidable garage/punk bar of Lyon. The gigantic adjoining square served as a terrace for reunions with friends, and a modestly sized vaulted cellar attracted all the city's awarned rockers. Many bands stopped by there on their tours.  I was walking down to the basement of the bar at the exact moment when the band SALO   x starte...

No serious blogger will admit it, but each of his publication is an opportunity to check for a few moments the traffic on his site and to think back of his motivations...  Last November, during the Make-Overs ' gig at the Bisik in Saint Benoît, the editor-in-chief of the Reunion web-zine Bongou shared to me that lapidary opinion : we write to be read. I answered him that, as far as I was concerned, it was rather to make live a musical niche - garage, punk and all their by-products - to promote its bands, to convince that my passion is worth the detour, to testify of the various scenes of the underground... But I knew that his remark was right. There's a part of pride and vanity lurking deep inside us. And they are impregnable. I have ever wanted to write and publish my own punk fanzine. Something personal that would give my vision of this universe, that would be nicely arranged with drawings for the visual side of it, and especially, that would have a soul and a freedom of sp...

January 2023. Reunion Island. During the five weeks of the school holidays, Anne and the children have flown to the French mainland, leaving me on my own with my job. I don't go out that much, loneliness suits me pretty well. Luckily enough, because the heat of the Austral summer is scorching, even if not yet suffocating - it seems that the El Nina phenomenon is softening a bit the Southern hemisphere.  So I spend time with myself, and for once, I take advantage of it to listen to some long lasting albums. This selection of Long Players offers a wild bunch of killer stuff: garage from Arizona, garage-punk from Louisiana, power-bedroom-pop from Sydney, garage-soul from Montreal, 80's-techno from Paris and a punk compilation reflecting the liveliness of this contemporary French scene that I've been following for a few years. All the best wishes to you for the year 2023. Janvier 2023. Île de La Réunion. C'est l'époque des vacances scolaires. Cinq semaines. Anne et les...

Gigs' Reviews : Lyon Calling (Part IV) - Chaleur Tournante + Touccan - 26th Of May 2022 - Basement Snack/bar, Lyon

I couldn't help but laugh when I saw my two buddies from Lyon, Sam and Romain , both proudly wearing the same T-shirt. I didn't fail to make fun of them, to tell them that they gave them that little side of a team cohesion, modern management and company pride... We had a good laugh. In any case, the promotional objective of these T-shirts was fully achieved. The drawing, presenting a zombified unicorn, which was furious since her main attribute had been painfully broken, and this name - Chaleur Tournante - with its incandescent typography, had more than intrigued me. On avait bien rigolé. En tout cas, l'objectif promotionnel desdits T...
