Turning Round On The Turntable : Pinch Points, Shitbots, C.E.O, Jenny, Monsieur Paul et Les Solutions

PINCH POINTS -  (Reasons to be) Anxious / Boy  Sp - MISTLETONE RECORDS - 2021   X The Minneapolis Uranium Club  used to be one of those major bands from the mid-tenies, which helped to laid the foundations for the current wave of the post-punk revival. In just a few years, with two Eps and three Mini Lps, the band managed to revisit, in its own way, the punkoïd, syncopated sound of  Devo , and to give a modern, clearly innovative version of it. Many bands followed the movement and the  New Center Of The Universe , Melbourne, didn't escape the trend :  Vintage Crop  and its  Company Man 's first Ep, for instance, just before they managed to add to that basic sound a strong layer of Aussie post-punk ( Eddy Current ,  UV Race ...), or, topic of the day, the young crew of  Pinch Points . (...) x The disruptive dive back into the gloomy streets of Marseille, was a total contrast with the moving, perched show of Yann Cleary, and with my peaceful, quiet stay in the Provence hinterland of the week. The British Post-Punk Generation. I had reached Moutiers the previous sunday after a long journey from La Réunion. Behind the cypress-lined alley, and laying amidst the grapevines, the truffle trees and the lavander fields, the old, stately Ségries' monastery was waiting for its visitors. The valley around, with its autumnal sparkling colors, seemed to have fallen asleep since the very first cold days of the sunny Provence. Everything stood like a call for self-reflection, loneliness and letting go.  Unfortunately, I was around for some compulsory work, and the timetable remained pretty busy. If the job session happened to be cool anyway, the hardest thing was, in fact, to bear all the talks of my colleagues, and show a minimum of interest to their so exciting life. You know...
